Google Hotel: a very interesting channel for your establishment

Google is an omnipresent giant in today’s world. And, as such, it could not fail to be present in the tourism sector. So “voilà!”: they created the Google Hotel platform: a tool from which users can consult and book their flights and hotels. It’s that easy.

If someone books at my hotel through Google Hotel, is it a direct sale?

Yes: Google Hotel connects directly to your hotel’s booking engine. Both the reservation itself and the customer’s data become the property of the hotel directly. A great advantage over OTAs that do not disclose the customer’s contact information because we can save the customer’s email address so that we can ask permission to send them our offers after their stay and keep in touch with them.

How much does it cost to have a Google Hotel account?

Having a Google Hotel account has no cost per se. But, in order to promote the hotel and give it more visibility, we will have to have an account in Google Hotel Ads, the Google Hotel Ads platform. This platform does not have a fixed cost: Google Hotel Ads charges a commission of 10 to 15% for each confirmed reservation one month after the client’s check-out. Therefore, in case of cancellation or no-show, this commission will not be charged.

If the reservation is direct, how do I distinguish a reservation made by Google Hotel Ads from a reservation made directly on my hotel’s website?

When clicking on your hotel link in Google Hotel Ads, Google assigns a cookie to the user. If, after having clicked on your hotel page from Google Ads, the user makes a reservation at your hotel, this cookie detects this and assigns this reservation to Google Hotel Ads.

Can I see how many bookings were achieved thanks to Google Hotel Ads in Google Analytics?

Yes. Being a Google tool allows you to see these statistics and to compare the income obtained thanks to Google Hotel Ads with respect to other online channels, such as your website or advertising campaigns carried out in Google Ads.

Are there only hotels in Google Hotel?

No. Google Hotel has a network of approximately 200 travel agencies worldwide, and this network is constantly growing.
